If you’ve become accustomed to traditional weddings, you may think your only choice for wedding dress colors are the various shades of white or ivory. However, in recent years more and more brides have been moving away from white dresses and moving towards dresses in a variety of colors, including black!  If you’ve been thinking about wearing a black wedding dress, let one of our beautifully designed black wedding dresses inspire you!:)

Remember that Brides & Tailor is specialized in creating custom wedding dresses of all colors, not only Black! So whether you are looking for a custom black wedding dress, a totally gothic-y custom gothic dress or any other colors, we’ve got your back!

This beautiful Styled Shoot was recently featured on Wedding Day Magazine, one of the most prominent Wedding Day Magazines in the Midwest! It is the result of the efforts of state of the art Michigan Wedding Vendors who worked together to bring an artistic moodboard into reality.

The idea of an alternative black wedding dress came from myself- Manal from Brides and Tailor, and Brittany from Great Lakes Event Planning! We pictured a stunning black ball gown in a modern and lighter colored venue. The choice of Gold/Black color tones turned out to be just gorgeous! All the elements complemented each other so nicely and beautifully.

The Wedding Dress and veil were a showstopper! When I was working on the design of this gown, I wanted it to be in Black but not too Gothic-y. I wanted beading to be placed over the lace to give it some sort of a 3D effect, and beautiful volume to make it truly bridal. The final result turned out to be gorgeous, with hundreds of small pieces of beading added all over the gown from top to bottom. The veil also had the same design of the dress with lace and beadings to create a timeless look!

Brittney from Great Lakes Event Planning made it a breeze to work together on this shoot. Most of the people do not know how much of hard work it takes to produce this beautiful work of Art, and I must say this group of vendors were just OUTSTANDING. Lauren, our photographer, was amazing and focused on capturing even the tiniest of details. Her photos are so beautiful and airy! Douglas, our videographer, was also awesome to work with! He made sure all the videos taken reflected both behind the scenes footage and live videos from the actual shoot.

Our models were so great to work with too! The atmosphere was just so much fun! Katelynn’s makeup consisted of a beautiful smokey eye and bold red lipstick by Norma, and the hair was hairstyled into a beautiful classic up-do by Carleana! Bradley wore a black tux as well, so it was all a matchy-match!

The beautiful white, gold and green tones floral work by Plum Market was just so classy and elegant, and the stunning floral arch was created by the talented Joy who paints each one of these petals individually. This is honestly just the perfect backdrop to any bridal party! The stationary created by Lyndsay was so moody and edgy- I loved the calligraphy in there!

The venue for this shoot was chosen because of its bright and airy aesthetic. The Roostertail is honestly one of the most beautiful venues in Detroit! It is the perfect combination for indoor/outdoor weddings!  Paired with the moody colors of the bride’s dress, this contrast is a match made in heaven! The cake was exclusively made by Karlee, and its beautiful gold and black mix truly complemented the rest of the moodboard!

One of the most beautiful aspects of the table were the gorgeous black linen colors provided by Luxe Event Linen, rentals by event Source and Upstage Kzoo’s candleholders, golden glass cups without forgetting the statement peacock chair. Needless to say, Britt did an awesome job setting everything up and making sure it was all picture-perfect! Since we wanted to touch on a moody trend for this shoot, black cake, a black dress, black acrylic chairs and black velvet linens are ahead of the trend! Here are some extra photos captured from this lovely day. You will also be able to watch a video at the bottom,so make sure you don’t miss a thing!

As a final note, To all brides all over the US and not only in Michigan I say: Always remember that your wedding dress should reflect your personality. If you cannot find a custom black wedding dress that truly matches your personality, count on Brides & Tailor to  create your dream bridal gown. We promise this will be an unforgettable experience! ”  – Manal

Leap Year comes but once every four years. And Leap Day, February 29, is not a national holiday anywhere. But that doesn’t stop the special day from being a highly coveted date for marrying couples to set their weddings on! This is exactly what Erin and Jamel decided to do- Having a Wedding as unique and special as their relationship!

Their Wedding took place at the beautiful Norfolk Botanical Garden in Virginia on a magical beautiful day! What I truly loved about Erin’s Wedding Day photos were the tons of smiles that were clearly shown on everyone’s face! Everyone had such an amazing time, and this is exactly what is so touching about weddings. It truly reflects the happiness and love all around!

Now let us talk about Erin’s Custom Wedding Dress! Erin had a 3-in-1 custom wedding dress designed by Brides & Tailor! It has a short skirt ( Which we won’t show you now 🙂 ), a long overlay ballgown skirt that can be easily worn above it , a removable belt and a removable jacket. Best part yet? Her custom wedding dress had pockets! Pockets are so trendy for 2020/2021, and we will be providing all brides with the option of adding pockets to all of their wedding gowns. So so classy!

Erin’s makeup was so simple and elegant, with beautiful curls that reflected true elegance!

The groom’s tux also reflected elegance and what I loved the most was the first “look” . I won’t give any more details. I will let the pictures speak on their own:)

Who could’ve thought that our planned Styled Shoot was indeed STILL going to take place despite the Snow Storm Advisory Warning in Michigan in January 2020?  This Styled Shoot was published on Contemporary Weddings Magazine, and I’m so glad to finally be able to share some of the photos from this magical day on our website!

We all drove in the Snow Blizzard and Weather Advisory on January 18th,2020 because we had this beautiful Concept in mind. We wanted to show potential brides how gorgeous it is to have Winter-themed photos! Michigan is known for its long winter months and snowy days, but we’re not going to just wait for Spring and Summer to have a shoot. A Bride is beautiful in any season!:)

The colors for the shoot were a mix of Blue, Gold, Burgundy and White. They just mixed up so beautifully and contrasted with the snow all around.

Brides & Tailor created a special custom faux fur piece in Burgundy to match the overall theme and to contrast beautifully with the snow and the wedding dress. The Custom Wedding Dress by Brides & Tailor  was a very simple yet elegant gown. It features lace on the bodice, intricate lace detailing at the back, and a flowy soft tulle skirt for the skirt. We are always trying to showcase different gown styles that a variety of brides would love! Needless to say, the bride looked awesome in it!

One of my favorite parts about this shoot were the 2 main characters – The bride and the Groom 🙂 Rebecca and Beau are husband and wife, and we cannot deny that the chemistry between those 2 was just AMAZING. They seriously made the photographer’s and the videographer’s work effortless! They were goofy, spontaneous and full of life!

For the table, a navy velvet tablecloth was used, and beautiful golf flatware, gold chargers and candle holders were used. The chairs also had golden accents and it was the perfect addition.  Our planners Britt and Megan created the perfect setup and added some candles  in just a few minutes. Planners really do magic:) The florist created beautiful pops of burgundy color floral work mixed with greenery, white and earthy colors. The flowers were out of this world! One of the things I also loved the most was the beautiful sofa which was perfect to add some warmth and coziness to the outside cold. The small vintage table used for the cake and the flowers was also so cute! Did you know that it was pre-purposed from a sewing machine? It looked absolutely gorgeous with the setting! 🙂

The cake was also an outstanding part of the shoot. Our awesome cake artist Mackenzie created an edible cake which has beautifully-blended navy blue and gold colors. It was the perfect cake for the perfect theme!

The makeup of the bride was so trendy and the bold lipstick color really made the lips stand out. The hairstylist created an elegant braid which really suited Rebecca’s face. For the stationary, Elisa created beautiful stationary with printed florals which had burgundy, blue and earthy colors.

All of this shoot would have never been possible without the efforts of these vendors and without 2 awesome vendors who were able to make the shoot streamed to all the audience in pictures. Kai Davis is an amazing photographer who is capable of capturing images with such great detail and color. Her photography is so airy and real that it really blows my mind away. Our videographer,Mas Media, is also such a talented videographer. Throughout the shoot, he was running around with his video equipment and his drone, and needless to say, his video speaks for itself. I literally teared up when I watched it. So so sweet to see what a work of art he has created.

I know I have probably written so much about this shoot already, but it is indeed one of my most memorable ones! Now all you need to do is sit back and enjoy these photos and video from this magical day!
